Chains

As requested - A word on chains:
A Chain is more in Gor, I believe, than in the BDSM community. For a Gorean, a chain speaks where a voice cannot be heard, a chain connects where a whip cannot reach.

BDSM uses it as a restraint, rarely anything else. It is there to hold and add beauty. But a chained kajira is often more than just aesthetically pleasing, just as they are expected to be more than a pretty face. A chain has so many uses, so many meanings.

A slave chained to a slave ring for discipline or punishment will be a very different girl to a woman on a chain at her Masters feet, adored even in silence.

It can be a tool for the Free in whatever capacity they desire to use it. It can instil fear and uncertainty, convey displeasure, or support and ground a slave to her thoughts, reminding her of wha she is, of what her purpose is.

I've rarely, if ever, seen another slave ask to be chained in real life. It is something decided by Men. This doesn't mean a slave cannot beg for it, only that I have not encounter it.
Only once have I requested a chain, after I had been branded my nightly chain was stopped as I couldn't lay still due to the pain. I was allowed the freedom of the House on the knowledge I was constantly well aware of my position by the throbbing at my thigh. Once I was able to lay down without being in pain, I begged for it to be returned.
I sleep more peacefully tethered.

But chain me for discipline and my thoughts run away with me. I don't sleep well for days afterwards, my head racing too much to rest. I panic. So for me, chaining to teach isn't helpful. Bells on my ankles, on the other hand, so every step reminds me what I was meant to be, what I am, works far better! Of course, that is probably another topic for another night.

Chains have their uses, but I find them restrictive and suffocating. If I'm chained, I can't serve. I can't simply request (for example) the bathroom. It becomes a three-act play of locking and unlocking, which in my opinion inconveniences the Free, taking up more time and effort than a slave should.

The strongest of chains are invisible. A harsh or kind word should be enough to subdue even the worst temper in a slave.
If it doesn't? It speaks volumes of the "slave".

I wish you well,
Kami.
